The Story
The many lives of Villa Beaulieu
From a nineteenth-century guesthouse to the Engadin's most celebrated clinic, and now a cultural residence once more — the story of Villa Beaulieu is the story of the valley itself.
Timeline
A House Through Time

1868
Built as Pension Joos
Built as Pension Joos in the heart of St. Moritz, the house began its life as a welcoming mountain residence for travellers exploring the Engadin. In its early years, it is said to have operated as a modest bed and breakfast, offering simple hospitality and a warm retreat amidst the Alpine landscape.

1926
The house became Villa Beaulieu
The house was later renamed Villa Beaulieu, a French name meaning “the beautiful place.” True to its name, the villa commands breathtaking views over Lake St. Moritz and the surrounding Alpine peaks, a setting that has long defined its enduring charm.

1941 — 2023
The iconic alpine Klinik Gut
In 1941, the house entered a new chapter when it became home to Klinik Gut, a local hospital that served the St. Moritz community for more than eighty years. For decades, it stood as an iconic Alpine place of care and recovery, overlooking Lake St. Moritz and caring for generations of residents and visitors alike.

2023 — 2025
The house stood empty
Then the house stood empty, quietly awaiting its next chapter.

2026
THE START OF SOMETHING GREAT
What came next was the start of something greater: the revival of one of St. Moritz’s most remarkable houses.

Today
It is being reawakened
Ten rooms, three suites. One frozen lake. A kitchen open to guests, a bar that stays late, and a calendar shaped by the valley — its artists, its seasons, its food. Villa Beaulieu is open again, as it has always been: a place to gather.
Welcome.
