Summer in St. Moritz: our guide to a weekend by the lake
Two days in the Engadin, from the villa. What to do in St. Moritz in summer, from the morning by the lake to an aperitivo in the evening, with first-hand tips.
Most people know St. Moritz as a winter place. Yet summer in the Engadin is almost the bigger secret: long, bright days, a turquoise lake, mountains close enough to touch. Here is what a summer weekend from the villa can look like.
Friday: arrive and a first aperitivo
Arrive in the afternoon and there is still time for a walk along the lake before the sun slips behind the mountains. Then a first aperitivo on the terrace at Le Jardin, with nothing on the schedule. That is how a good weekend begins.
Saturday: lake, mountains and Champagne Saturday
The morning belongs to the lake. A loop on foot or by bike, a dip in the cool water for the brave. At midday take the railway up, the view over Corviglia or Muottas Muragl is priceless in summer. Back at the villa, Champagne Saturday waits on the terrace in the afternoon.
Sunday: a slow close
Sunday is allowed to be slow. A long breakfast, coffee and cake in the garden, perhaps live piano in the afternoon. If you still have the energy, take one last walk by the water before heading home.

- Best time: the summer months, when the terrace is open and the days are long.
- Getting here: by train to St. Moritz, with the villa a few minutes from the centre.
- Base camp: Villa Beaulieu, right on the lake, with the bar and garden in the house.
